Blackberry Dressing And Other Recipes

Just as you can prepare strawberry, you can also prepare a rich blackberry dressing. And it is that this fruit of the forest is not only used in confectionery, as we usually think, but in all kinds of recipes.

During the summer, blackberries ripen in the northern hemisphere, which is why this is the ideal time to consume them ; On the other hand, in the southern hemisphere, although it can be found all year round, it is convenient to consume it during the months of July to September.

Blackberry dressing

Blackberry dressing is used primarily for cold or room temperature salads. It is a refreshing and slightly sweet touch that we give to vegetables that is prepared with very few ingredients and in a very simple way.

In this sense, it is important to note that this dressing can be prepared with blackberry jam instead of fresh fruit ; everything will depend on our taste and how sweet we want it to be.

Ingredients

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Olive oil
  • ⅓ cup of fresh blackberries (50 g)
  • Apple vinager
  • 2 teaspoons of agave syrup (10 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar (15 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon of cold water (15 ml)
  • Seasonings: salt and black pepper (to taste)

Preparation

  1. We wash and drain the blackberries. We booked.
  2. In a bowl, mix the lemon juice with the vinegars, the agave syrup and the seasonings. We stir with a spoon several times to integrate everything.
  3. Next, we put the blackberries and the liquid mixture in the blender. We add a drizzle of olive oil, little by little, and finally, a little cold water. We process at low speed for one or two minutes.
  4. In case we want a slightly thicker dressing, it will be necessary to add more blackberries.
  5. Serve at the moment, or reserve in the refrigerator until the moment of consumption.

Blackberry jam

Ingredients

  • a pinch of salt
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 3 cups of blackberries (450 g)
  • 1 cup of white sugar (200 g)
  • ¾ cup of panela (150 g)

Note: you can reduce the amount of sugar and increase the amount of fruit, or substitute agave syrup for sugar.

Preparation

  1. We clean the blackberries and remove the tails. We booked.
  2. In a container, we place the blackberries together with the sugar and pour the lemon juice. Next, we take it to the refrigerator and let it rest for a whole day.
  3. The next day, we heat a casserole over medium heat, without greasing, and add the blackberries that we had previously refrigerated. We stir frequently.
  4. Add the panela and cook over medium heat for an hour.
  5. We turn off the heat and let it cool to room temperature before serving or storing.

Blackberry and basil sauce for meat

Ingredients

  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh blackberries (30 g)
  • 2 tablespoons of salted butter (40 g)
  • 1 ¾ glass of blackberry juice (350 ml)

Preparation

  1. We prepare the blackberry juice. No need to strain it.
  2. We put a pan to preheat over medium heat, without greasing.
  3. In a refractory container, we place the butter and we take it to the microwave for 1 minute to melt it.
  4. We lower the heat and pour the blackberry juice, without straining, into the pan. Once it starts to form bubbles, we add the melted butter. We constantly stir to prevent it from turning into an ointment.
  5. We wash the blackberries, drain and put them in the pan for about 4 or 5 minutes.
  6. In addition, we chop the fresh basil leaves into strips and add them to the pan after turning off the heat.
  7. Pour over the cooked meat and serve.

Another type of blackberry sauce

Ingredients

  •  ½ cup of fresh blackberries (75 g)
  • ¼ glass of red wine (50 ml)
  • ¾ glass of meat broth (150 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar (5 ml)
  • 1 ½ tablespoon of salted butter (30 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of currant jelly (45 g)
  • Seasonings: salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. We clean the blackberries and cut their tails. We booked.
  2. Heat the meat broth in the microwave and add the currant jelly. We stir with a spoon to help it dissolve.
  3. Besides, we heat a frying pan over medium heat with the butter and add the wine. When it is boiling, we add the meat broth with jelly.
  4. We stir everything and, half a minute later, we add the vinegar along with the blackberries. We let the vinegar reduce and turn off the heat.
  5. Finally, we season to taste and serve.

In addition to these sauces, you could also make a blackberry and yogurt dressing. The important thing is to always use fresh fruits and take into account the nutritional contribution that it supposes.
