Take the tongue scraper and rub it to remove any white residue. The correct way to do this is by holding the item horizontally with your lips, applying light pressure on your tongue while scraping from front to back.

Finally, clean your mouth using an antibacterial mouthwash for one or two minutes. This last product will eliminate any microscopic germs that may have remained after completing the previous steps.

Here are some home remedies that, according to popular wisdom, could help you disinfect your tongue in a timely manner.

1. Baking soda rinse

The sodium bicarbonate rinse is intended to be used in a limited way and in small quantities, since it is a very abrasive substance that can erode the enamel of the teeth and burn the oral cavity.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water (250 ml).
  • 3 drops of peppermint essential oil.
  • A pinch of baking soda.

Preparation

  • Brush your teeth as usual. Then use yarn.
  • Put all the ingredients in a glass jar and shake them to mix well.
  • Do several mouthwashes.

2. Apple cider vinegar rinse

Another very common option to make a homemade rinse is to take a little apple cider vinegar and mix it with water. Although vinegar is not as abrasive as bicarbonate, it is advisable to use it occasionally, so that it does not damage the enamel of the teeth.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water (250 ml).
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (30 ml).

Preparation

  • Combine the two ingredients in a jar and use the liquid as a rinse after regular brushing.

3. Parsley and clove rinse

The parsley and cloves rinse is very easy to prepare and leaves your mouth really fresh. Take note of the recipe!

  • 1 branch of fresh parsley.
  • ½ cup of water (125 ml).
  • 3 whole cloves.

Preparation

  • Bring several sprigs of parsley to a boil with 3 whole cloves and half a cup of water.
  • Let the resulting liquid cool and then strain it.
  • Use the liquid as a rinse to disinfect your tongue.

4. Hydrogen peroxide rinse

Ingredients

  • 3 parts of water.
  • 1 part of hydrogen peroxide (2% – 5%).

    Preparation

    • Mix the two ingredients and use it as the last step in oral hygiene.

    Note : about the use of hydrogen peroxide as an ingredient to make a homemade mouthwash there are some discrepancies.

    5. Antiseptic mouthwash

    • 120 ml of water.
    • 15 ml of vegetable glycerin.

    • 5 drops of clove essential oil.

    Preparation

    • Add all the ingredients to a clean glass jar and shake to mix well. 
    • Use as much as necessary to wash your mouth and spit it out.

    • ½ cup of water (125 ml).

    • Prepare an infusion with mint leaves and half a cup of water.
